This seems like a very simple block but can create a complicated looking secondary patter when assembled. By matching 2 patches on 2 separate blocks you get a special pattern on the quilt.
To cut this pattern, start with a 10 inch square. There are two cuts per square. Each cut starts 3 inches from the top left corner and the bottom right corner. Repeat this from top to bottom, and left to right. You should end up with the 4 pieces to the right.
