Sunday Reflection – June 25, 2017

One more week left of this month and I could not be happier that it’s coming to an end. So many ups and so many downs. A few of the most exciting things to happen to me this year and a few of the worst. Things could get much better in July or things could take a turn and upend everything. For somebody who needs stability, this month has been a major challenge.

Most of the items that I ordered has finally arrived. Just waiting for a coupe more items to come in but I am very excited about my purchases. It’s been a long time since I’ve spoiled myself and I deserve it!

New Computer

I picked up my iMac on Friday night and I’ve been getting it set up. I’m so happy to have a desktop again. Not just for the computing power but for the stability and the permanent set up it provides. It makes keeping all computer related things and work in one place and removes the instability of a workspace you get with a laptop. Plus the giant screen makes working on projects so much easier.

I’ve played around with editing some 4K video form my new camera and this thing had no problem keeping up with it. My MacBook just couldn’t handle 4K and it would have made the purchase of my new camera pointless.

My New Camera

I’m so impressed with the video quality on the Sony camera I got. It gets such a sharp image and the quality is so high. I’m very glad with the decision I made. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews on YouTube and deciding between the three different models Sony has to offer. The reason I chose the a6300 is the 4K video. The a600 is still a great camera but it doesn’t have 4K. Just recently the prices dropped so I decided this is my one chance to get this camera so I’m going to splurge and get the 4K. And man am I glad I did. Watching the video back on my iMac at 4K just gives the image so much detail.

Sony 50mm f1.9 Prime Lens

I also ordered an additional lens for the camera and I can’t wait for it to get here. This lens will give me the ability for depth of field so I can make some good looking video. This will also give me a better artistic look when I do photography. Now the first one I ordered got lost in shipping but it’s something I just have to have so I reordered it and hopefully it arrives this week.

New Tripod

I also got this really sick tripod (I know it sounds really geeky) but this thing can go above my head and has an arm that can fold down so the camera can the pointing straight at the ground. Plus the construction feels really solid. And it’s really quick to set up and change to whatever I need.  I’m really excited about this purchase because it offers so much diversity with what it can do. This is something that will make changing between shots easy and less complicated then the cheap tripod I originally got.

More About the Blog and my YouTube Channel

I’m excited to start working on my sewing projects and my YouTube channel. I also want to develop my own WordPress theme for this site (that won’t happen for a while though). I’ve got so many projects in mind that I will have no problem with creating content for quite some time. I’ve decided tonight the theme of my YouTube channel is going to be “learn as you go” style. So I’m not doing tutorials, I’m doing more of a watch me fail type thing. There is sure to be plenty of frustrating moments caught on camera.

It’s been a few months since I moved into the basement and moved here with the primary intention of saving for a down payment and improving my financial position. I’ve made a lot of progress to that end and now I’m focusing on the second phase. I’m going to break this down into 3 components. These are the three areas of my financial plan to buy a house.

I uploaded a new YouTube video! I recorded this last week before I went to Bangor. I got excited and sat down to practice filming. This isn’t perfect and I didn’t bother replacing the audio from the camera with the lapel microphone. But here it is! Help me out my watching it and going and subscribing to my channel!

I did it. I uploaded my first video to YouTube. I don’t think it’s anything impressive but I bit the bullet and did it. I’ve included my first video in this post. There is a very high chance that the video will only be available on this post at some point in the very near future. haha!

For anybody that knows me, sewing is not something you would picture me doing. In fact I’m a little surprised myself that I got interested in this. But I needed something to occupy my time. With most other aspects of my life being virtual I needed something tangible that I could do with my hands. So after some strange occurrences a new passion is born.
